How to compare your weight loss surgery options.

If you’ve tried a laundry list of diets and exercise regimens and had no luck losing weight, you might be interested in finding an easier way to lose weight.  Weight loss pills are an option, but for some, those do not work either.  Often, the next thing that comes to mind is surgical weight loss.

Surgical weight loss is not for everyone.  It is primarily for those who have attempted to control weight through more traditional means but failed.  Patients must, in most cases, have a body mass index, or BMI, of 40 or more.  Those with a BMI of 35 or higher, however, may be considered if they have health problems that are exacerbated by being overweight.

There are three common types of weight loss surgery:

* Adjustable gastric band, or Lap Band surgery - Lap Band surgery has become very popular in recent years.  It is minimally invasive and completely reversible.  A band is placed around the stomach near the top, creating a small section to store food but allowing it to slowly pass into the larger section.  The band can be adjusted to control the amount of food that is allowed to pass through.  This creates a feeling of fullness after the consumption of smaller amounts of food.

* Duodenal switch - This involves the removal of a large portion of the stomach.  The lower part of the small intestine is bypassed, decreasing the absorption of fat, calories and nutrients.

* Gastric bypass - Gastric bypass surgery involves stapling the stomach, creating a smaller pouch into which food enters and a larger pouch that is blocked off.  The small intestine is then rerouted to the smaller pouch.  This technique allows the patient to feel full after eating less food, while keeping the stomach intact.

After all types of weight loss surgery, it is necessary to follow your doctor’s orders carefully.  You will probably have to make major adjustments to your eating habits, and you may need to take vitamin supplements.  These things are crucial in order to reduce the risk of complications.

Risks of Weight Loss Surgery

Any kind of surgery carries risks, and weight loss surgery is no exception.  The worst of these risks are heart attack, blood clots, and leakage at the connection between the stomach and small intestine.  All of these conditions could potentially lead to death.

Other possible complications include infection, hernia, pneumonia, and ulcers.  It is also likely that gallstones will form after surgery, possibly necessitating removal of the gall bladder.  Gastric fistula, a condition in which the parts of the stomach reconnect, can also happen after gastric bypass.

Losing weight by surgical means is not for the average person.  But for those who are obese, it is sometimes the most effective option.  Weight loss surgery should be carefully considered due to the risks and lifestyle changes necessary, but it can produce astounding results.  Your doctor can help you determine whether weight loss surgery is right for you.

As most of us search for the perfect diet, you may be surprised to learn that bee pollen and weight loss have been linked.

Research has found that bee pollen increases the metabolism, thereby speeding up the rate at which calories are burned.  In fact, it is thought that pollen from the honeybee is even more potent as a weight loss alternative.  The pollen itself is low in calories, and it contains a substance called lecithin which allows fat to dissolve more readily in the body.  In addition, the effect bee pollen has on cholesterol is positive, and can decrease cardiovascular disease as a result.

Another reason why bee pollen is so effective in losing weight is that it suppresses the appetite.  Once you have a regular meal, you feel sated and do not require a second portion or snacks later on.

Here is another amazing fact.  The amino acid in bee pollen can also increase weight.  Hold on, this is not a contradiction.  Simply put, there is an amino acid within the bee pollen called phenylalanine.  Now what this does is signal to the body whether or not it is being deprived of food or needs food to survive.  Amazing, isn’t it?

Bee pollen is also known as an energizer and has a domino effect on the body.  The more energized you are, the more you will engage in physical activity, which will result in the loss of more weight.

Experts also note that the reason why some cannot lose weight, or gain weight for that matter, is due to a “chemical imbalance within the body‘s metabolism”.  When bee pollen is introduced, therefore, there is a stabilizing effect which can bring the body back into balance and can attribute to either weight loss or weight gain.

Bee pollen is available in capsule form and can be taken in conjunction with a weight loss program.  However, it should be stressed again to consult with your doctor before beginning any weight loss program, as well as ascertain if you are allergic to the pollen itself.

Now a word about phenylalanine that should be addressed: This chemical is found in decongestants and appetite suppressants. This should not be taken as a supplement since it can cause severe side effects.

In addition, pregnant women, children, and nursing mothers should not use bee pollen as there is not sufficient data to explain how it would affect this group.  Consult with your physician before deciding on any course of dietary supplementation.

Many people who have a few extra pounds do not think about losing weight.  They rationalize that they are not as bad as other people who are severely obese so they can wait a while before they get around to losing those few pounds around the belly.

Fast forward 20 to 30 years and those extra few pounds you’ve been carrying around will now start showing their ugly heads in the form of high blood pressure, heart disease and a plethora of other health ailments.

There are several benefits to losing 10 to 20 pounds and getting in shape.  Weight loss can decrease stress on your knees, hips, and lower back and may improve the symptoms of osteoarthritis.  Weight loss may improve blood pressure, triglyceride, and cholesterol levels; improve heart function and blood flow; and decrease inflammation throughout the body.  If you lose weight, you won’t need to worry about ED or taking the magic blue pill.  :o)

That’s the why of weight loss, now what about the how to lose 10 pounds?

First of all, you need to make a commitment to yourself that no matter what, you will stick with it until you have shed those 10 or 20 or 30 pounds.  Successful weight loss comes from an honest commitment to yourself and a focus from within to succeed. You can succeed at losing however many pounds you need if you want, it will take hard work and dedication.

The magic secret to losing 10 pounds fast or 20 pounds fast is diet and exercise.

You already know that.

First I want to talk about exercise and then give some tips about eating better and smarter.

Exercise is a very important factor in any weight loss plan, whether you have 10 pounds to lose or a hundred. If you do not include exercise in your battle to lose weight, then you probably won’t meet you goal as quickly as you would like.  If you want to lose 10 pounds fast, you need to exercise.

Now let’s talk about eating, one of my favorite subjects.  Calorie shifting in particular.

Calorie shifting is an amazing and flexible diet plan that anyone can do. It is a much safer and more effective way of losing weight fast than taking diet pills, doing rigorous workouts and starving yourself. Calorie shifting is by far the best way to lose 10 pounds fast! Lose 10 pounds fast by eating more

Hello-

Most people don’t believe they can lose 10 pounds fast by eating more food.  It just doesn’t seem to make sense.  But the fact is many people make a mistake in their diets by not eating enough.  If you starve your body for an extended period of time, your body will develop cravings that eventually you will have to appease.

When you do give in and start eating after you’ve been starving yourself, you will often eat a whole lot more than you would normally eat and you’ll eat unhealthy foods because they are quick and easy.

You need to keep your blood sugar levels at normal levels throughout your day.  By going long periods without food, your blood sugar levels will go down and this will lead to binge eating.

The trick to losing weight by eating is to eat more often.  You can eat smaller meals.  You can eat all your favorite foods.  You can eat and eat and eat.  Just in smaller portions.  For people who love to eat, this works great.

The main point is that most people cannot sustain food deprivation for an extended period of time.  Your body needs food and you will not be able to sustain any weight you lose through depriving yourself of food and starving yourself.

Any diet plan that works is one that you are able to stick with.  A diet plan that calls for you to starve yourself will not be one that works in the long term.  The results will be temporary.

So stop making this common diet mistake and get something healthy to eat, like some walnuts.
